Sex and Meditation are two alternatives

PS Malik speaks on: Sex and Meditation are two alternative ways to begin with …

People come and ask me if sex is a taboo to attain awakening. And I always explain them that awakening and sex are two different stages. Awakening is a state of existence and sex may be used as a means to attain that state of existence. Sex is like a jungle. It allures people with its flowers; its fragrances; its fruits. But it offers a risk also. The risk of being lost inside it is there; and hence, mostly people have a fear of being lost in this jungle of flowers, fragrances and fruits. I ask my pupil that the journey for bliss cannot start with a fear. You start it with fearlessness. Do not be scared of sex. It is not scary. It is merely alluring; alluring to take you astray so long as you are not aware of the sex itself.

The basis of all sins is your ignorance. You are ignorant of sex and you have made it a sin; a taboo. You are ignorant of awakening and you have made it a ritual; a penance. You are ignorant of meditation and you have made it a mystical practice; an esoteric formula. When you enter meditation; when you start entering it you find that it was not so complicated as it was described by the experts.

Experts always make the things incomprehensible. They put simple things with such a great extensions of “ifs” and “buts” that a common person cannot understand it. The same has happened to both of the sex and the meditation. Both are very simple but Pundits have made them burdensome.

Sex is one of the natural tendencies of the body. Restraining it is unnatural. There are those who say avoid sex. They teach their lesson plans to people and people find it difficult. On the other hand are those who preach to enjoy it like an animal. They induce you to the limits of pornographic domain to earn their monetary benefits. A common man finds himself in a fix. The first approach restrains you of your natural requirements and the second one drains you of your money, your self and the all.

I have shown my children, my pupils that a third option is also there. Both of the aforesaid groups mislead you only because of your ignorance. My point is – Just Be Awakened. Stop sleeping in a sleep of ignorance. Gurus, professionals, pornographers could mislead you only because you were not awakened – neither about the sex nor about the meditation.

When you are in your bed room you usually are in thinking of your tenders, promotion, case files, projects, presentation and all other sundry thoughts. Your sex does not find a smooth outflow. It is tangled there with unwanted thoughts. The unexpressed sex which could not find its natural way out is assimilated in your personality. You become more starved of sex. To remove this starvation you indulge more and more in body acts. But the problem was not at the level of body that is why even indiscriminate use of ‘functionality pills’ does not sort the problem. You enter, though unaware a vicious circle. Pornographic masters exploit your this ignorance or unawareness.

The day you are aware of the problem, it is sorted out. For this you have to be awaken. You have to integrate yourself. You have to stop your fission in thoughts. You have to compose yourself at the level of mind and body both. And then thereafter when you enter sex it is altogether different. It is not doing now. It is not an act now. It is a state of being. It is the existence. It is the actualization. Now what happens is not that pornographic act rather it is the expression of your mind and body. It is an assimilation of a beginning and a conclusion. It is that state where you are situated in the Real Time Frame. Tantra has called it Bhairavi Awastha (the absolute existence).

Same is there in the meditation. Gurus and Pundits have ritualized it. A simple state of ‘Non Doing’ has been so decorated with useless outer practice that the real inner meaning of meditation had been risked to have been lost. Whenever something simple is to be spoilt you have to do nothing more. Simply hand it over to the Gurus and Pundits. They will do everything remaining. Meditation has undergone such handing over in the hands of these Gurus and Pundits.

Meditation is about your interview with yourself. Anything else will be unwanted and undesired – may it be a Mantra or a Mala or a Guru Naam or any other useless thing forced upon you by these Gurus and Pundits. A number of times seekers ask me, and always women outnumber men in this area that a Guru Naam really helps them concentrate during meditation.  Here it is a cliché.

The general problem with you during meditation is that of the astray thoughts. You, like English philosopher David Hume, find yourself lost in the crowd of those uncontrolled thought reveries. Gurus, getting good opportunity have started blaming thought reveries and asked you to stop them. They teach you to restrain your thoughts. Gurus have made you start fight against your thoughts. You want to stop them and they are not stopped. Gurus started training programs to train you. What atrocities are not done in the name of this training?

This is your mental and spiritual exploitation in the name of yoga and meditation. In this fight on both sides it is you who is fighting. Whichever side loses the fight you are bound to lose. They are asking you to do something deceptive.

The meditation is your meeting with yourself. Anybody or anything from outside, even outside advice also will be an intruder. In the meditation just be there. And that’s it. Do nothing. Stop, if you are doing something because that will connect you to the outside world. Just be with you.

Initially, thoughts of outside world will come there. But these are your thoughts. These thoughts, being yours are more authentic than the teachings of those Gurus and Pundits. Do not stat against your thoughts. Do not pose fighting against them. There is no need of it. It is you in the form of those thoughts. There is no need to in conflict with you yourself.

Have you observed that these thoughts are very short lived; very transient? They come and go. They keep flowing. They are the impressions of the outside world inside you.    They will gradually cease to flow as soon as this outside world is flushed out of you. It all happens gradually and perpetually. At least Gurus are not the right kind of hardware needed for this upgradation.

Once you are with you – you are in meditation. It is a new state of existence where you are in real time frame. Yes! I am using this word ‘Real Time Frame’ because at most of the times you will find yourself busy with the memories of past or the imagination of the future. You are never with you in present. If you try it you are not able to be in present for more than a few seconds. You are not in real time frame. You are either in the past or in the future. Meditation is that existence which is in real time frame as you were there during Bhairavi Awastha reached through sex.

It is your this Awastha i.e. the existence which matters. Means to attain this Awastha or existence may depend upon your choice and nature. It may be sex or it may be meditation.

This article is based upon my discussion with Sh. PS Malik the awakened one regarding “sex and meditation”
